The Japanese Gardens in Portland's Washington Park were beautiful -- and we were there at exactly the right time. The Japanese maples were fully leafed out with fresh, young leaves. We spent a good deal of time walking and much of it was uphill. Though Rebecca walks a few miles each day now, she usually walks a flat route.
